M: Can you hurry up? It's freezing out here...Don't tell me you have the wrong key.
W: I know what my own house key looks like! Look. The lock is turning, but the door isn't opening.
M: This pair of shoes is on sale for $80. They're normally $100,so it's a pretty good deal.
W: That's still $30 more than I want to spend.
W: I bought this computer from you not long ago. I turn it on,it loads, and then it shuts off.My boss needs a report by noon, so I need this fixed by then.
M: I'm sorry to hear that.Let me see if our technician can help.
M: What do you think of this new suit?I think it's very modern and fashionable.
W: Oh,I like your old suit more. The style is classic, and honestly, I don't think red is very professional to wear around the office...
W: I think it would be great for both of us to go somewhere and relax for a little while. What do you say?Wouldn't it be fun?
M: It sounds like a great idea.I just don't know if it is the smartest thing to do right now.
W: Did you hear about that woman who went missing last weekend?
M: Yeah, she was walking her dogs in the forest, and didn't come back. Did she get lost?
W: No, she often goes there and knows the forest well. She fell down a hill and broke her leg. She is in hospital right now.
M: Wow. How did she survive so long?
W: Her two dogs slept beside her to keep her warm.
M: That is amazing. I guess that's why people say dogs are "man's best friend".
W: I know. A hiker discovered her after he heard the dogs barking.
M: Look! I think that is her husband on TV right now.Turn on the volume.
M: I was thinking of starting my own business.
W: What kind?
M: I know you wanted me to take over your restaurant business. But to be honest, I can't stand working in the food industry.
W: Don't worry.I knew that a long time ago.
M: I thought maybe you and Dad could lend me some money to open a skateboarding shop.
W: That's possible. Do you have a business plan?
M: Not in writing, but I've thought of all the details.
W: So,what would you sell?
M: We'd sell skateboards, clothing, shoes, and other kinds of things.
W: What would make your shop different from all the others?
M: I thought we could make our own T-shirts.
W: It sounds OK to me,but you'll have to talk to your father about this, too.
W: Tell me what exactly is bothering you.
M: I've been feeling a little weak lately.Sometimes I lose my balance.
W: Are you exercising?
M: I used to have a personal trainer, but I have been really busy lately.I am a banker, you know.I sit behind a computer all day long.
W: How is your diet? And how much alcohol do you drink?
M: I eat chicken or beef every day, and I make noodles twice a week. How often do I drink? Oh... I would say three times a week.
W: You need to eat more fruits and vegetables, drink less, and exercise more.
M: I know. It's just hard to find the time.
W: Well, you'd better find the time.Otherwise, you'll be seeing me more often.
W: When are you moving out of your apartment,Nathaniel?
M: On the third of next month.
W: Do you know if your house owner has found a new person to move in yet?
M: Actually,I don't think she has.She said she was going to send someone over to look at the place, but she never did.Do you know anyone who is interested?
W: I am.I've just changed jobs, and your apartment is very close to my new office. It would be very convenient.
M: I have to warn you, though. The roof started leaking a few weeks ago,so I think that needs to be fixed.
W: Are there any other problems?
M: The windows are broken,so it's a bit cold in winter.
W: Hmm...That could be a problem.
M: And now that there is something wrong with the roof, you might have more bargaining power.
W: Great.Give me your landlady's number and I'll give her a call.
M: When I was twenty-five,I decided to leave England and travel to Africa.I went with my best friend, the biologist David Attenborough. We had both spent five years at university, and we had just graduated. The plan was simple.Since I was a writer and he was a biologist,I would write about our experiences, and he would study the different animals we saw along the way.First,we stopped in Egypt. We visited the famous pyramids, rode camels, and saw crocodiles in the Nile River. After that,we went to Kenya, where we had a chance to feed giraffes from the tallest trees. Then we went to Tanzania and camped in a small village. The locals there took us to see some rare animals.Last,we ended our trip in Madagascar. There,we saw an animal that I'd never seen before.I bet my friend $50 that it was a monkey, but after a quick Internet search,I learned I was wrong.Never make a bet about animals with a biologist! When we arrived back home,I went to see David's publisher.I showed him everything I had written about our journey. He said that he would publish it in the next National Geographic magazine!
