Text 2
W: Hi. Could I have two tickets for the next train to New Jersey, please?
M: Uh, OK. The next train is at 2:30 p.m., and it leaves from platform 5. That’ll be $42, please.
W: Let’s see... I think I have a $50 bill somewhere.
Text 3
M: Did my package arrive?
W: Yes, but it was delivered to your office.
M: What a pain! I’ll have to pick it up when I go to work on Monday.

M: This is a very nice restaurant you have here. The lighting gives it a really lovely atmosphere. It’s a great place for a romantic meal or a business meeting.
W: Actually, we are planning to put in different lighting next month. The restaurant will have a brighter and more family friendly feel when it’s all finished.
Text 5
M: Excuse me. Can you tell me how to get to the community college?

W: Star Suites, Vera Simpson speaking.
M: This is Alan Johnson. I’d like to book two rooms for three nights.
W: I’m happy to help. We have a special on our business suites from December 23rd to 25th.
M: That sounds attractive, but we need to check in about six days before that. And we only need a couple of simple double rooms.
W: OK. I’ve got plenty of those. When will you arrive?
M: We’ll be arriving late on the 16th, but our checkout will be early on the morning of the 19th.
W: Very well, Mr. Johnson. We’re open twenty-four hours a day, so youre welcome to check in at any time.

M: Have you tried the tomato soup here? It’s really good.
W: I’m not really crazy about tomato soup. My mom always served soup on the last Sunday of the month when we were almost out of money.
M: Have you had it recently? I’m telling you, it’s to die for!
W: Well, let me have a taste of yours.
M: OK, get your spoon.
W: Whoa! That’s outstanding. It’s creamy, and it tastes like it has some fresh vegetables in it. That’s nothing like the canned soup my mom used to heat up for us.
M: So, shall I order you a bowl of your own?
W: Why not? I think it would be great with some French bread, too.
听下面一段对话,回答第10至第12三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
Text 8
W: Are you going to the gym again today, Hans? Why don’t you run in the park?
M: All my friends are at Fitness Center. I like going there.
W: Well, the air is fresher outside, and you know that’s good for your brain, right? You need to be sharp for your interview at 3:00.
M: You are probably right, but running in the park is so boring. I just run in a circle like a mouse on its exercise wheel.
W: But running is good for you. What do you do at the gym?
M: There are all these different machines — one for each muscle in the body. I use each one ten times.
W: That must be a big gym! Do you know how many muscles there are in the human body?
M: Stop making fun of my exercise routine! Steve says people who use gyms are 80% more likely to stick to their fitness routine. And what are you doing for your health? Making cakes again?
听下面一段对话,回答第13至第16四个小题。现在你有20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。
Text 9
W: Have you had a chance to look at the applications?
M: Yes, I have read all of them, and I think these four people would be perfect.
W: Let me see your list.
M: Here you go. Actually, we had so many good choices that I started out with seven names.
W: I see you chose Fred White and Betty Davidson. Those two were at the top of my list, too.
Betty has so much experience in accounting.
M: I know. And Fred has worked in tax accounting for several years. They are both good choices.
W: So, let’s definitely call them for an interview. What about Brenda Cox? She wasn’t on your list, but I thought she might be a good fit for the job.
M: She looks good on paper, and she’s taught at the Collins Business School for years. She doesn’t have much experience in management.
W: But don’t you think it would be nice to at least give her an interview?
M: Well, you’re the boss!
W: Great. Let’s set up the interviews for next week, then I’m looking forward to having a new manager to oversee our finances.
M: Me, too.
听下面一段材料,回答第17至第20四个小题。现在你有20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。

Since the first Great Wall Marathon in 1999, the race has become known as one of the world’s most challenging marathons. Runners can choose three kinds of distances: the full marathon,a half marathon, and an 8.5-kilometer Fun Run. What is the race like? Competitors will enjoy the scenery of the Great Wall. When the run seems to be endless, look for signs placed every kilometer of the course. They are color signs by distance so runners will know how far they have come.
If you get thirsty along the way, look for water stations every four kilometers. You will also find energy drinks, bananas, and wet towels to help you cool down. If you need anything else during your run, you can leave it at the station before the race. There are a few rules for runners. Please keep to the right and make way for faster runners. The route is not closed to traffic, so be very careful about cars. And if you run into trouble, don’t worry. A medical team will be available at each water station to make sure all your needs are met.
第二节到此结束。现在,你有两分钟的时间将试卷上的答案转涂到客观题答题卡上。
