M: Why don't we study together in the library every Thursday after school?
W: You're forgetting I have tennis practice on Mondays and Thursdays. How about Friday?
M: That works for me. See you then.
W: We'll have to run some test on you. First, I'm going to take a blood sample.Make a fist.
M: Hello！Jack is speaking.
W: Hi, Jack. This is Amanda. How are you doing lately?
M: Nothing special.What's up?
W: I'm calling to ask you if you want to come to my Christmas party on the 22nd.
M: Excuse me, how can I get to City National Bank?
W: Walk down Elm Street as far as the traffic lights.Turn left until Poplar Street.Walk to the end onto Oak Street. The bank is on your left.
M: Thanks a lot.
W: John, is Mark coming for coffee tomorrow?
M: Yes, I told you yesterday, Tracy!
W: Oh, did you? Sorry, I must have forgotten.
M: Do you ever listen to classical music?
W: Sometimes, but I like jazz more. The beat is much more exciting.
M: Classical music is definitely my favorite. It helps me to relax.
W: Which composers are your favorites?
M: I like listening to Bach, Mozart and Beethoven.I also listen to operas.
W: I haven't had the chance to listen to operas.Do you have any opera CDs?
M: Yes, would you like to borrow some sometime?
W: How about now?
M: No problem.
M: Good afternoon, Madam.Welcome to our shop.May I help you?
W: Yes. Two days later is Father's Day.I'd like to buy my father a white shirt.
M: OK, Madam.I'd be glad to show you some. What size, please?
M: Here's one in large size. This is a very nice shirt.
W: Oh, it's really nice. How much does it cost?
M: These styles are $500 each.
W: That's a little more than I want to pay.Don't you have any less expensive shirts?
M: Yes, here are some for $200, and we also have some for $100.They are on sale, 50% off.
W: $200 will be all right.I'll take this one.
M: Are you sure one will be enough?Since it is a really perfect bargain.
W: Yes, I know, but I really think one is all I need now.
W: Harry, guess what? I've just received an email from Pamela. She and Peter are coming down to see us this weekend.
M: Oh, that's good news! We haven't seen them for ages.
W: Yeah. The last time we met them was at our wedding three years ago.
M: Did Pamela mention how long they would stay?
W: About one week.
M: Great! I can't wait to show them around our new house.
W: Me too. We haven't had any guests since we moved in here. If the weather is fine, we can have a barbecue in the garden.
M: Good idea. I'll go to the market tomorrow to buy all the things we'll need.
W: Umm...Here are people moving house.I think that's pretty stressful.
M: Well.I think it's not so bad. But I do think that going to the dentist is stressful.
W: Oh,so do I. It's stressful because you have no control.
M: That's right.Look at this one. This poor boy is sitting an exam.I think exams are the most stressful.Sometimes you just can't think of anything to write.
W: Yes, I agree with you. What about these people here?
M: Umm...I'm not sure. They seem to be in a hurry, don't they? I think being late is stressful.
W: That's true.It can be terrible,especially when you're late for something important.
M: Like an interview.Look at this picture here; here's someone in an interview.Do you think interviews are stressful?
W: No, I think they're quite exciting and a challenge.
M: Oh, I hate interviews.
Before we begin the first program of the day, which is chemistry for the Open University at three o'clock in just two minutes, let's take a look at a few of the programs later in the day. First of all, for those lucky ones who don't have to go out to work there are afternoon films. This is your chance to catch up some of those old movies which you always meant to see but never got around to. Today at 4:30 we have a great film by Charlie Chaplin. After this, at 6:15, there is the popular program ‘Spot the Mistake’, where you are invited to compete with a team of experts. This is followed at seven o'clock by ‘The World Around Us’. This week, we'll be taking a look at life in the Sonoran Desert in southern Arizona where daytime temperatures can reach 45 degrees. At 8:50 we have ‘100 Great Sporting Moments’, in which we'll enjoy yesterday's FA Cup at Wimbley between Manchester United and Brighton. This will be followed by the news at ten o'clock. Then, at 10:15, we have ‘The Art Show’. A group of painters came together in 1965 and called themselves the Artists of America.
